Opus codec is used for audio stream encoding in TrueConf video conferences. To connect with SIP/H.323 endpoints, Speex, iSAC, G.711, G.722, G.722.1, G.723, G.728, G.729 audio codecs are supported. In this case the connection is established through the gateway, and TrueConf Server selects the codec according to the external device or software used.

We strongly recommend using our software for communication as Opus codec is considered to be the best scalable audio codec for Internet telephony at the moment. Opus features excellent sound quality, high performance and minimal encoding delay as compared to other voice codecs.

Most importantly, Opus is able to scale audio stream, which allows adjusting sound quality in real time depending on the connection type. In this case, there is no audio data loss during a conversation because audio quality is automatically adapted to new bandwidth. Additionally, Opus lessens CPU load as there is no need in encoding multiple audio streams with different bit rates simultaneously for participants with weak and good channels respectively.
