Which codecs are used in TrueConf video conferencing software?

TrueConf Server supports a variety of codecs for different video conferencing scenarios.

A codec is a software implementation of a standardized mathematical algorithm for data or signal compression and decompression. Codecs are widely used for audio and video processing.

Codecs in TrueConf client applications

Opus Wideband HD Audio and VP8 SVC codecs (for audio and video data respectively)  are used for video calls and conferences in TrueConf client applications. These codecs provide high quality of connection and audio transmission even in complicated network conditions.

Opus Wideband HD Audio codec is considered to be the best scalable audio codec for VoIP, featuring excellent audio quality, high performance and minimal encoding delay.

VP8 SVC is an improved version of VP8 codec, adapted to SVC technology by TrueConf experts. VP8 codec is distributed under a royalty-free public license is notable for its speed of decoding, high degree of compression and flexibility.
