Ministry of Transport and Communications in Myanmar creates countrywide private cloud powered by TrueConf 1

The Ministry of Transport and Communications in Myanmar has successfully created a private cloud for video conferencing and team messaging based on TrueConf self-hosted software. The system provides the Ministry with uninterrupted operation, full control in accordance with the requirements for information security, integration with existing video conferencing hardware and PBX, and technological independence from any external factors.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC) is one of the pivotals sectors in Myanmar that plays a crucial role in the nation’s development and creation of transport and communication infrastructure. It oversees a wide range of areas, including postal services, telecommunications, public transportation, etc.

The decision to digitalize communications and implement an online solution for remote interaction was driven by the need not only to save time costs, but also to enhance workflow productivity and streamline collaboration across all levels of the Ministry. Taking into account the requirements for information security, secure data exchange in the local network, and independence from external services, MOTC has chosen TrueConf Server, an all-in-one self-hosted collaboration platform, as a core of their video communications network. TrueConf Server works on the proprietary protocol that makes it protected from the risks of blocking and restrictions.

The server is installed on the Ministry’s own infrastructure and operates in a private network, which eliminates the possibility of unauthorized access to the meeting and communications data, and also guarantees IT specialists full control over all conferences. Cross platform client applications with a built-in team messenger are used by the employees and installed on their PCs and mobile devices.

The second important stage was the seamless connection of all meeting rooms and existing video conferencing equipment to the new corporate network. For this purpose, MOTC’s IT department chose TrueConf MCU, a software transcoding server for SIP and H.323 endpoints that is fully compatible with TrueConf Server. It allowed connecting Polycom and Cisco video conferencing hardware to the communications system and organize multipoint meetings with unlimited time, integrate with PBX, conduct webinars, and use advanced conference management tools.

The Ministry’s employees are utilizing a single address space — this allows colleagues from different departments to fully interact with each other, make video calls, schedule group conferences or launch ad hoc ones, as well as exchange messages in group and personal chats.

“TrueConf has fundamentally transformed the way we communicate and collaborate within our Ministry,” said the representative of MOTC’s Information Technology and Cyber Security Department. “The ease of scheduling conferences, accurate meeting recordings, and the seamless connectivity has significantly improved our operational efficiency.”

The robust collaboration platform combines workplaces, meeting rooms, and remote employees and allows 400 MOTC employees to solve different tasks — hold meetings, employee trainings, workshops, and live events. It has accelerated decision-making processes, ensured timely communication, and created a more cohesive and collaborative work environment.
