International ocean and air freight operator CFR Freight has chosen TrueConf as their video conferencing provider. Their TrueConf Server unified communications platform has helped them coordinate communication between four South African offices and has helped them cut expenses through making use of distance learning and video conference meetings.

CFRFounded in South Africa in 1991, CFR Freight operates as a strictly neutral non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) offering LCL and FCL Ocean Freight services to the Forwarding and Clearing Industry.

The number of CFR Freight employees rapidly increased from just a couple of people to 100 professionals in the past 20 years. Such tremendous growth culminated in the need for a Unified Communications system to facilitate communications between offices in Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. Company managers wanted to save money by using distance learning and by cutting expenses on business trips.

CFR Freight used to rely on Skype as their video conferencing service. However, company engineers concluded that Skype does not meet their enterprise video conferencing requirements. They found that Skype lacked collaboration tools and did not guarantee permanent service availability and data transfer security. As a result, CFR Freight began the search for a video conferencing service replacement which would offer them a fully integrated unified communications system.

“The reason we chose TrueConf was because we needed a product that would run on our MPLS network,” says Antoni Dabrowski, Group IT Manager at CFR Freight. “I did not want the video traffic to go over the Internet as Internet access in South Africa is not great. TrueConf was the perfect solution. Setup took only a few minutes and we had our first conference call within ten minutes.”

The ability to adjust to channel capacity allowed CFR Freight engineers to design system parameters which are effective within South African Internet speeds. CFR Freight also recognized the high quality and efficiency of TrueConf’s support service.

“TrueConf has given us the ability to not only save travel costs but also to save time. Training that would usually have to be done more than once at each branch now only needs to be done once. Time is as important as travel cost, hence TrueConf Server being the perfect solution,” Antoni Dabrowski said.
