Conference Recording
Recording Conferences
The recording of the event can be saved both on the server side and in the client application. The audio tracks will be saved differently for conferences with simultaneous interpretation:
In case of server-side recording, several audio tracks will be created: the main track and a separate track for each of the translated languages.
When an event is recorded locally (in a client application), a single audio track will be saved ; this track will include the audio heard by the current participant. For example, if this user switches between languages when selecting an interpretation channel, this change will be reflected in the recording.
Saving recordings on the server
If you are the conference owner, you can manage the saving of its recording on your TrueConf Server. To do this, go to real-time meeting management, click on
in the top right corner of the opened window, and select Recording. Such a recording includes the entire conference layout (type For all if specified, otherwise automatically created for this mode). To obtain a recording of an "on-the-fly" quick conference, you will need to contact the administrator of the video conferencing server where it was held.
A conference can be recorded locally by any of its participants as it is shown below. Such a recording will include only the windows of the participants who gave permission for recording.
How to locally record a video conference
During a call or conference, click the
button and select the Video recording option. In the window that appears, click the
button to choose the recording objects. Then specify which participants you want to record (all, only yourself, or a specific participant) and click Start record.

Each participant being recorded in the video conference will see an icon
in the top left corner of their video window.
The recorder will see a
button in the conference control panel, which, when clicked, will open the recording management window.
If content or slideshow is shared in a separate window, it will also be recorded.
How to set recording permissions
Each conference participant configures the recording permission individually in the client application in Settings → Preferences → Tools → Video Recording in the Who can record me field.

Possible settings options:
- Nobody. Block the ability to record your video window.
- Ask me each timeYou may receive a request at the start of recording your video window from one of the participants.

If granted, the permission cannot be revoked. Recording will stop only when you leave the conference.
- Users from my Address BookAllow automatic recording of my video window for participants in my contact list, and for everyone else upon request.
- EveryoneAllow automatic recording of your video window to anyone interested.
Where video conference recordings are saved
By default, video conference recordings are saved on your computer in the Videos folder, which is located in your profile folder along the path specified in section Video Recording in the Settings → Preferences → Tools menu.
A subfolder named TrueConf, which will store all conference recordings, will be automatically created in the folder selected for saving video recordings.

Selecting Recording Options
You can record video conferences in different formats and with different parameters. By default, recordings use .mp4 format, but you can choose a different available format: .avi, .mkv, .webm. You can also change the video recording resolution, but keep in mind that the maximum resolution depends on your computer performance and may vary from device to device.
When the Show participants' names in the recording checkbox is unchecked, the recording will be made without user names.
How to watch a recorded video conference
To view a conference recording, go to the Recordings section in the main menu and click on the selected video. You can also right-click on the video to open the containing folder and delete the file.

How to Share a Conference Recording
You can also share a conference recording with another user. To do it:
Go to the Recordings section.
Right-click on the video recording of interest and select the Share file option from the menu that appears:

In the opened panel, select a group or private chat where you want to send the recording.

You will enter the selected chat. If desired, add a comment or other files to the message, and then click the Send button.

How to download a server-stored recording as a conference owner
The recording saved on the server can be downloaded from a client application or the personal area only if the conference was created in the scheduler. Otherwise, you need to contact the administrator of your TrueConf Server.
The administrator of your TrueConf Server can configure the recording of all conferences held on the server. Unlike recording on the client application's TrueConf side, the server will save the entire video layout with speakers, regardless of the application settings permissions on their end. This recording can be automatic or upon request by the conference owner. If you need to save the conference recording on the server side, go to the Creating a conference menu, navigate to the General tab, and check the box in the Conference video recording line.

To download a recording of a conference that you own, go to the Conferences section by clicking the
button in the main menu of the application. Then select Calendar or Virtual rooms. In the opened conference card, click Download recording.
Please note that this feature is available only if the administrator has marked the corresponding checkbox on TrueConf Server.

If there are multiple recordings of the selected conference, the Conference recordings button will replace the Download recording button. Clicking it will take you to the list of available recordings. To download the desired one, click the
button in the row of that recording.
