MCU Update
MCU Update
The classic transcoding server TrueConf MCU enables communication with both hardware SIP/H.323 terminals and users of TrueConf client applications. This solution is actively evolving, and we will show you how to properly install updates for it. You can find out about new releases in our blog and newsletters.
To update TrueConf MCU, download the distribution package:
Through the control panel
Updating TrueConf MCU via the control panel is recommended when only the third digit in the version number changes (e.g., from 1.5.0 to 1.5.1). However, for major version releases with changes to the first two digits, such as from 1.4 to 1.5 or from 1.5 to 2.0, it's necessary to perform a clean installation of the new version as shown below.
In the control panel, go to section Administration → About.
Click the Upload file button and select the downloaded package.
Once it appears in the list, click the
button next to it to install the update.Later, you can remove unwanted files from the list using the
button.
Clean installation of the update
Update TrueConf MCU, which includes significant new features, must be installed cleanly after removing the previous version. This typically applies to major version releases involving changes to the first two digits, such as from 1.4 to 1.5 or from 1.5 to 2.0.
Step 1. Saving a backup of the necessary settings
Save the server configuration as shown here.
When transferring data from version 1.5 to 2.0, you have to use the .csv format, which will restore only the list of contacts and groups.
Step 2: Removing the current version
On the OS where TrueConf MCU is installed, open the terminal and execute the command:
Debian
sudo apt purge trueconf-mcu -yStep 3. Installing the new version
Install by following our instructions.
Open the TrueConf MCU control panel and activate it using your registration key. You can find it in the email you received when you initially downloaded our solution.
What does the key bind to?
The registration key is linked to the following parameters:
MAC address
BIOS ID.
When changing the hardware configuration of the virtual or physical machine where TrueConf MCU is installed, you will need to reset the hardware binding of the key. To do this, please contact your manager or the technical support center.
Step 4. Restoring Data from a Backup
Restore the TrueConf MCU configuration from the saved file as shown here.
To restore the configuration from TrueConf MCU 1.5, select a backup in .csv format.
Server Calibration
After the update, it is mandatory to perform calibration.
You can now start working with the new version of TrueConf MCU.
