TrueConf has released a beta version of its new client app for Windows. The new app substitutes the two separate applications currently in use with a single unified interface for TrueConf Server and the TrueConf Online cloud service.

TrueConf 7.0 for Windows is built on a unified platform previously used for client applications for Linux and OS X. Thanks to the cross-platform core of these applications, TrueConf will be able to speed up the introduction of new technologies to all desktop operating systems simultaneously.

Users can select the necessary server type at the authorization stage: Enterprise TrueConf Server or the TrueConf Online cloud service. Servers can be switched directly in the application’s settings without restarting the app.

To optimize the use of space within the app, the new client features a new mechanism for video window layout formation in multipoint conferences. The new layout adjusts automatically when the user changes the size of windows or it can be changed manually on demand. In addition, all necessary tools for calls, IM and conference control are available in tabs on the side panel of the application window.

The Address Book menu has an updated design. The user list tab now features avatars for faster navigation. The contact search mechanism is now simpler and smarter, with predicative technology that instantly responds when a user starts entering symbols into the search bar.

In addition, TrueConf 7.0 for Windows has a new mechanism for chat interaction: the chat tab can be expanded to a separate window as a fully featured messenger tool. The chat tab also features an option to separate personal and group chat history; all recent group chats are stored as separate items in chat history.

“The new client app is built within a concept of a unified user interface for all platforms. Therefore, users of every operating system will get the same experience and set of features,” says Dmitry Odintsov, TrueConf CBDO. “The new cross-platform approach to development is beneficial to all TrueConf users since it lowers development expenses and allows us to implement new features faster.”
