TrueConf Group 1.0.61: support for IEEE 802.1X and IEEE 802.1Q networking standards 1

Meet TrueConf Group 1.0.61, the latest upgrade of our video conferencing endpoint for meeting rooms of any size. The new version brings support for IEEE 802.1X and IEEE 802.1Q networking standards and plenty of other useful improvements.

If you’d like to upgrade your TrueConf Group firmware, please contact our technical support.

Support for IEEE 802.1X and IEEE 802.1Q networking standards

Ethernet networks that support IEEE 802.1X and IEEE802.1Q standards ensure a safe and secure connection. You can find these options in the Ethernet section of the web control panel.

IEEE 802.1X standard allows TrueConf Group users to authenticate and connect to a network with trusted devices. You can set an identity and password, as well as specify EAP authentication method in IEEE 802.1X settings.

IEEE 802.1Q standard transmits data over VLANs within the Ethernet network. All devices within the same VLAN can communicate with each other via an isolated channel, while being connected to LAN with other devices. In this standard settings, you can choose which virtual network TrueConf Group will operate in by specifying the VLAN ID.

Other updates and improvements

  • We’ve improved the mechanism for recovering lost network packets between several TrueConf Group endpoints connected via SIP protocol. This allows you to compensate 10% of lost network packets and thereby increase connection stability.
  • In the version 1.0.59, we added support for VNC, a simple protocol for remote access to graphical user interfaces. Now, you can connect to a network computer with a pre-installed VNC server using username and password authentication.
  • We’ve improved compatibility with Cisco SIP/H.323 devices.
  • We’ve fixed a bug that caused the microphone and speaker mute indication sometimes to not be displayed on the screen connected to the video conferencing endpoint.
  • We’ve also increased the overall performance and stability of TrueConf Group firmware.
