# Features available in a moderated role-based conference
A moderated role-based conference is a mode where the speaker must take the virtual podium to present. Podium management is available to the owner, moderator, and operator. Users can independently request to speak. If a short remark is needed without taking the podium, use an audio remark.
# How to make an audio remark
During a moderated role-based conference, you can make a short audio remark without requesting special permission. To do this, in the conference window, press the 
button and hold it while you speak.
Once you release the button, the microphone will remain active for 5 seconds.
# How to take and leave the podium
To take the podium, tap on the button 
in the meeting control panel and select the Take podium option. You will be able to speak to other participants as soon as your request is accepted by a moderator. In this case the option in the context menu will change to Leave podium.
# Permission to take the podium
After an attendee sends a request to become a speaker, the meeting moderator will receive the following notification:
If you are the moderator of the moderated role-based conference, you can invite any attendee to take the podium during the meeting. To do it, go to the Conference Participants section. Tap the participant you would like to promote to speakers and choose Invite to Podium.
Once the podium speech is confirmed, the user will be displayed in the video layout.
# How to change the conference mode
During an active conference, moderators can quickly change the mode. In the control panel, click 
Switch to "Smart Meeting". Similarly, in the smart meeting, the button is available 
Switch to "Role-based Meeting".
# Features available in a smart-meeting conference
Smart meeting is a conference mode where the video layout is formed dynamically. The podium is assigned automatically based on a specific algorithm: the person who is speaking or sharing content (even without voice activity) takes the place of a silent presenter. The number of slots on the podium is specified when creating the conference.
