Do I need a powerful server to deploy TrueConf Server?

No, you don't! To install TrueConf Server you will need a PC based on 7th Gen Intel Core i5 CPU running the operating system that fits TrueConf system requirements. If you would like to try TrueConf Server first, you can deploy it even on a regular desktop operating system such as Windows 10.

A feature of the TrueConf protocol is scalability, which ensures optimal consumption of hardware resources while hundreds of users participate in video conferencing sessions at the same time. The only limitation for the number of simultaneous video conferences is your bandwidth and network interface speed. You can learn more about bandwidth requirements here. By the way, our video conferences work stable even at 32 kbps.

When streaming, recording conference on the server side or connecting participants via third-party protocols (e.g. H.323, SIP, BFCP, H.239, RTSP or WebRTC), the CPU load is significantly increased due to video transcoding. In such conditions we recommend that you reserve one logical core for each running conference (not for each participant).

It is possible to deploy TrueConf Server on a computer where other Internet services (such as domain controller or mail server) are installed, because these services do not use up a lot of the CPU's processing power or network resources. However, we still recommend that you deploy TrueConf Server on a dedicated or virtual server and use it for video conferencing only.

System requirements for common configurations

Please reserve additional 50% network traffic for configurations with specific network traffic usage.

For different conferencing modes the XxY formula is used where X is the number of speakers or presenters, Y is the total number of conference participants. For example in a 4x20 role-based conference there can be no more than 4 concurrent presenters with up to 20 participants in total.
