# Before You Begin
This section shows how to configure initial settings for the TrueConf Group endpoint by using the remote control. For more convenient administration with extended features, we recommend using the control panel, accessible via the web interface.
By default, access to the control panel might be unavailable, and after connecting the terminal to the local network, you will need to configure it. After that, all settings can be managed in the browser.
Factory reset for the terminal is also available.
# Hardware setup
Please note: turn off TrueConf Group before connecting any devices or equipment to it.
Connect the included equipment, as well as the screen and network interface, to the terminal system unit. Then connect the TrueConf Group to the 110-240 V power supply using the provided power adapter and start it with the power button.
Once you have turned on the endpoint for the first time, you need to configure your network connection parameters and control panel access.
# Control Panel Access
To manage conferences remotely (via the web interface), ensure that the Settings → Protocols → Web access section has the Allow remote access option enabled. Here, you can also upload certificate and private key files for HTTPS.
After this, the control panel will be accessible at the address specified in the IP settings. This same address will be displayed in the lower-left corner of the main screen.
# Setting the IP Address
To assign an IP address, gateway, and subnet mask for TrueConf Group, go to Settings → Network interfaces → master → TCP/IPv4.
If your network has a DHCP network service, check the corresponding box to configure the connection automatically. Otherwise, configure the following parameters manually:
- IP address
- Mask
- Gateway
- Primary DNS
Secondary DNS.
If your network uses the IPv6 protocol, you can configure it in the same way in the Settings → Network interfaces → master → TCP/IPv6 menu.
For more advanced network configuration, go to Settings → Network interfaces → master → Ethernet:
You can disable Auto-negotiation and manually configure the Interface speed (Mbit/s) and Duplex (Duplex or Half-duplex).
The IEEE 802.1X settings section allows you to configure the connection using the IEEE 802.1X access control protocol by specifying a username, password, and EAP authentication method (MD5, PEAP, TTLS).
When using a corporate VLAN network, you can configure a connection via the IEEE 802.1Q protocol in the IEEE 802.1Q settings section by specifying the VLAN ID.
If the network connection is successful, the terminal's IP address will be displayed in the lower left corner of the main screen.
# Reset settings
The reset settings functionality is not available in all firmware versions. Please contact your TrueConf representative to check its availability on your device.
In certain cases, it may be necessary to reset most of the TrueConf Group terminal settings to their default values. This might be needed if you cannot access the settings due to a forgotten password or to quickly restore the factory state after unsuccessful parameter changes. In this process, all settings will be reset except for those listed below:
address book;
call log;
conference recordings and traffic;
logs;
network settings;
Time settings.
To reset the settings, you won't need a remote or control panel; access to the terminal itself is all that's required.
Press the power button on the terminal case five times in a row. A window will appear with a warning about resetting to factory settings.
Press the power button again to confirm the reset.
# Factory reset
It is recommended to perform a factory reset only as a last resort if the standard reset did not achieve the desired effect.
The terminal TrueConf Group supports a factory reset. This will result in a complete firmware rewrite while retaining the license. To perform the reset, you'll need a flash drive with a clean system image. To obtain it, please contact us using any convenient method.
Please note that a flash drive with a full system image is required. Attempting to restore the terminal using just a firmware file on an external drive will not work.
To reset the firmware:
Turn off the terminal, but do not disconnect it from the power supply. Connection to the local network is not required.
(Optional) Connect a keyboard to the terminal. This will be useful if a remote control is not available.
Connect the flash drive with the system image to any USB port of the terminal (it is recommended to use a USB 3.1 port for maximum installation speed).
Turn on the terminal using the remote control or power button, and immediately after, repeatedly press the remote control "delete" button or Backspace on the keyboard until the recovery menu appears.
The recovery menu will appear with the title TrueConf Group Installation Program.
Use the arrow buttons to select Offline Installation and press the OK button on the remote control or Enter on the keyboard to start the process.
If you encounter any issues during the process, please contact TrueConf technical support.
