To access it, open the TrueConf Server <a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wiki\/trueconf-server-control-panel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">control panel<\/a> and proceed to <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.trueconf.com\/server\/en\/admin\/server-part\/#server-log\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>System \u2192 Server Log<\/strong><\/a> the upper right corner of the screen.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/serverlog.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-pa5foIL1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-15521 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/serverlog-690x146.png\" alt=\"serverlog\" width=\"690\" height=\"146\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/serverlog-690x146.png 690w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/serverlog-768x162.png 768w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/serverlog-1024x217.png 1024w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/serverlog-290x61.png 290w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/serverlog.png 1598w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"marked_note marked_note--warning\">Server logs will contain the maximum amount of information if the <strong>Enable detailed logging<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> option is checked in the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.trueconf.com\/server\/en\/admin\/web-config\/#settings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Dashboard \u2192 Settings<\/b><\/a> section.<\/span><\/div>\n<p>Most likely, TrueConf Server has stopped since the log contains the following line:<\/p>\n<p><code>01\/01\/2000 10:00:00|0| 096c| UNKNOWN| CHECK CERT: HW key is failed!<\/code><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads-com\/2018\/08\/border-2.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-pa5foIL1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8991 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads-com\/2018\/08\/border-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"736\" height=\"568\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/border-2.png 736w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/border-2-609x470.png 609w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/border-2-236x182.png 236w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 736px) 100vw, 736px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"what-is-hw\">What is HW Key and How to Fix It?<\/h2>\n<p>A <b>HW key<\/b> (hardware key) is a checksum of your computer or virtual machine configuration. If you change this configuration (the full list of parameters is <a href=\"#parameters\">given below<\/a>) your hardware key may \u201cbreak\u201d and, as a result, TrueConf Server will stop and won\u2019t launch. This problem may also occur when you <a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/knowledge-base\/update-trueconf-server.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">update your TrueConf Server<\/a> instance to the latest major version (i.e. the first two digits of the version number updated, e.g. from 4.7 to 5.0).<\/p>\n<p>In this case, the server is stopped by the security service to avoid unauthorized use of its copy.<\/p>\n<div class=\"marked_note marked_note--warning\">If you are going to update your TrueConf Server instance, please make sure that your current license is eligible for updates (check our <a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/support\/premium-support.html#update-policy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">renewal policy<\/a> for more details).<\/div>\n<p>TrueConf technical support will fix your hardware key <b>for free<\/b>. To that end, you should <a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/support.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">submit a ticket<\/a> and tell us your <a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wiki\/server-id\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">server ID<\/a>. Once our technical support fixes the hardware key, please <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.trueconf.com\/server\/en\/admin\/server-part\/#registration-process\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">re-register the server<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"marked_note marked_note--danger\">Before resetting the registration, make sure that you have the <a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wiki\/registration-key\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">registration key<\/a> that you entered on this server last time.
