TrueConf Server can also be installed on a virtual machine (VM) of any available provider.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This article will explain how to deploy TrueConf Server on <a href=\"https:\/\/aws.amazon.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amazon Web Services<\/a> (AWS) cloud.<\/p>\n<div class=\"marked_note\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">After you create an AWS account, you will be able to use the service for <b>750 hours\/year <\/b>for free. After 12 months, you will need to pay for the services. Learn more about the free plan restrictions in the <a href=\"https:\/\/aws.amazon.com\/ru\/free\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">official documentation<\/a>.<\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Create a virtual machine<\/h2>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Click the <strong>Create an AWS Account<\/strong> button on the <a href=\"https:\/\/aws.amazon.com\/?nc1=h_ls\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amazon AWS<\/a> home page. Log in with your account or create a new one.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Choose <strong>Services \u2192 Compute \u2192 EC2<\/strong> in your profile page.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Type your operating system name in the search box, for example, Debian, and press <strong>Enter<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Set the bit rate of the created VM on the right side of the page. To do this, choose <strong>64-bit (x86)<\/strong> and click the <strong>Select<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Choose the type of configuration you want based on the <a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/support\/system-requirements.html#trueconf-server\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">system requirements<\/a> and click <strong>Next: Configure Instance Details<\/strong>. You can read each parameter description in the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.aws.amazon.com\/AWSEC2\/latest\/UserGuide\/launching-instance.html#configure_instance_details_step\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AWS Documentation<\/a>. In this article we take <b>t2.micro<\/b> instance from the table above as an example.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">On the <strong>Step 4: Add Storage<\/strong> page you can:\n<ul>\n<li>add new storage and file system<\/li>\n<li>choose the type of volume and change its size<\/li>\n<li>set the number of input\/output operations per second (IOPS) if the volume supports this<\/li>\n<li>configure the volume encryption if necessary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Click Next: Add Tags after changing the repository settings.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">You can assign your own metadata to each instance in the form of tags for easier filtering and management. Tags allow you to categorize AWS resources in different ways, for example by purpose, owner, or environment. This is helpful when you have many resources of the same type. Click <strong>Next: Configure Security Group<\/strong> after configuring the tags.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Configure the security group on the <strong>Configure Security Group<\/strong> page to define firewall rules for your instance. These rules determine which incoming network traffic comes to your instance while all other traffic is ignored.\n<div class=\"marked_note marked_note--danger\">0.0.0.0\/0 source rules allow all IP addresses to access your instance. We recommend you to configure security group rules, so that only specific IP addresses can get access to it.<\/div>\n<p>You can add rules based on your needs. Open ports 80 (HTTP) and 443 (HTTPS) to provide Internet access for your AWS instance. Read which ports does TrueConf Server use in our article.<\/p>\n<p>Click the Review and Launch button after configuring the security group.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Check the instance details. Click the <strong>Launch Instances<\/strong> button if all the settings are correct. If you want to edit details, go to the previous page by clicking <strong>Previous<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Create a new key pair if you have not used AWS before and have not created any instances. To do this:\n<ol>\n<li>Choose <strong>Create a new key pair<\/strong> from the drop-down list.<\/li>\n<li>Specify the encryption type in the Key pair type block (we recommend RSA).<\/li>\n<li>Enter the key pair name in the Key pair name field.<\/li>\n<li>Click the Download Key Pair button. After that, a new key pair will be generated and the private key (*.pem) will be downloaded.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"marked_note marked_note--warning\">Save the private key file with the *.pem extension in a secure and accessible place. You will need this file when starting the virtual machine. You will not be able to re-download the file after it has been created. If you lose access to the file, you will need to generate a new key pair.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Click <strong>Launch Instances<\/strong>. The <strong>Launch Status<\/strong> page will open. Click the <strong>View Instances<\/strong> button to go to your instance. You will see the status of the virtual machine in the <strong>Instances<\/strong> tab:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/aws.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-eE3lZ4NA\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20949\" src=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/aws.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"435\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/aws.png 1920w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/aws-690x333.png 690w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/aws-1024x494.png 1024w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/aws-768x371.png 768w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/aws-1536x742.png 1536w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/aws-290x140.png 290w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">When <strong>2\/2 checks passed<\/strong> is displayed in the <strong>Status Check<\/strong> field, connect your key pair. Right click on this status and choose <strong>Connect<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Choose the <strong>SSH client<\/strong> tab. You will see a step-by-step guide for connecting to your server.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Connect to virtual machine<\/h2>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li aria-level=\"1\">To access your VM, use the console <code>ssh<\/code> utility, which is available for all modern operating systems, including Windows 10+, Linux, and macOS.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Connect to your instance at the specified public DNS address. In the terminal, run the command (you can copy it from the SSH client tab):\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true \">ssh -i \"path-to-your-private-key\" admin@ec2-3-88-26-209.compute-1.amazonaws.com<\/pre>\n<p>where <code>path-to-your-private-key<\/code> is the path to your private key file.<\/p>\n<div class=\"marked_note marked\">Please note that the SSH connection will not be established if the private key file is stored in a directory accessible to other operating system users. Move the file to <code>C:\\User\\.ssh\\<\/code> for Windows or run the command <code>chmod 400 key.pem<\/code> to change the visibility for Linux.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">TrueConf Server deployment<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">TrueConf Server deployment on AWS is similar to physical server deployment. In case of difficulties, follow our instructions:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/knowledge-base\/install-and-set-up-your-video-conferencing-server-for-linux-in-15-minutes.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Install and set up TrueConf Server for Linux in 15 minutes<\/a><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/knowledge-base\/adjust-https-trueconf-server.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HTTPS Setup<\/a><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/knowledge-base\/ports-trueconf-server-use.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Which ports does TrueConf Server use<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Please note that the TrueConf Server control panel is only accessible from the local network after installing the server on the remote virtual machine. To get external access, you need:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Edit the file <code>opt\/trueconf\/server\/etc\/webmanager\/opt\/local_only_admin_24.conf<\/code> \u00a0as shown below:\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true\">&lt;Location \/admin&gt;\r\n#     Require local\r\n#     Require ip 10.0.0.0\/8\r\n#     Require ip 192.168.0.0\/16\r\n      Require ip x.x.x.x\/32 \r\n&lt;\/Location&gt;\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>where <code>x.x.x.x<\/code> is your external IP address.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Restart the TrueConf Server web service with the command <code>systemctl restart trueconf-web<\/code><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div class=\"marked_note marked_note--danger\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Please note that you will not be able to get admin access to the TrueConf Server control panel if you change your external IP address until you edit the <code>local_only_admin_24.conf<\/code> file again. Therefore, we recommend you to use a computer with a static IP address to operate the virtual machine.
