However, sometimes users may face problems when running their TrueConf desktop applications for the first time or updating them. In particular, on some occasions, the application either does not start or crashes with an error. There can be various reasons for this issue: from incompatibility with the operating system to missing dependencies or conflicts with antivirus software.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"primary-medium-text ui-mb-sm-1 ui-mt-xs-3\">In this article we will show how to deal with typical problems when starting the application and discuss some of the proven methods for restoring the functionality of your desktop application.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<h3 id=\"step-o\" class=\"h5--main h5--thick black-text ui-mb-xs-3 ui-mt-md-1\">Method 1. Update the Truconf app to the latest version<\/h3>\r\n<p class=\"primary-medium-text ui-mb-sm-1 ui-mt-xs-3\">One of the reasons why your application may not be starting is that you are using an outdated version. In this case, you should update the app by taking these steps:<\/p>\r\n<ul class=\"ui-list ui-list--medium ui-mb-sm-1 ui-mt-xs-3\">\r\n    <li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--num\">Go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/downloads\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a> to download the TrueConf desktop application <\/li>\r\n    <li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--num\">Download the app for your operating system. For example, on Linux, select your OS distribution and, if necessary, follow the detailed installation guide. Update your graphics card driver<\/h3>\r\n<p class=\"primary-medium-text ui-mb-sm-1 ui-mt-xs-3\">Since your Truconf application uses a video card for some operations, driver issues may affect the software performance.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"primary-medium-text ui-mb-sm-1 ui-mt-xs-3\">To update your video card driver<\/p>\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"ui-list ui-list--medium ui-mb-sm-1 ui-mt-xs-3\">\r\n    <li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--num\">Identify the video card model:<\/li>\r\n        <ul class=\"ui-list ui-list--medium ui-mb-sm-1 ui-mt-xs-3\">\r\n            <li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--disc\">Windows<\/li>\r\n                <ul class=\"ui-list ui-list--medium ui-mb-sm-1 ui-mt-xs-3\"><li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--disc\">Press <b>Win + R<\/b>, type <b>dxdiag<\/b> \u2192 press <b>Enter<\/b> \u2192 in the pop-up window, select the <b>Display<\/b> tab \u2192 <b>Device<\/b>.<\/li><\/ul>\r\n            <li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--disc\">Linux<\/li>\r\n                <ul class=\"ui-list ui-list--medium ui-mb-sm-1 ui-mt-xs-3\"><li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--disc\">Run <code>lspci | grep -i vga<\/code> in the terminal.<\/li><\/ul>\r\n        <\/ul>\r\n    <li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--num\">Go to the manufacturer&#8217;s website:<\/li>\r\n        <ul class=\"ui-list ui-list--medium ui-mb-sm-1 ui-mt-xs-3\">\r\n            <li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--disc\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\/en-us\/drivers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NVIDIA<\/a><\/li>\r\n            <li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--disc\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amd.com\/en\/support\/download\/drivers.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AMD<\/a><\/li>\r\n            <li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--disc\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.intel.com\/content\/www\/us\/en\/support\/detect.html?wapkw=driver\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Intel<\/a><\/li>            \r\n        <\/ul>\r\n    <li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--num\">Select your graphics card model, operating system, and its version.<\/li>\r\n    <li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--num\">Download the latest driver version.<\/li>\r\n    <li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--num\">Install the driver according to the instructions for your operating system.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p class=\"primary-medium-text ui-mb-sm-1 ui-mt-xs-3\">After updating the driver, try running your TruConfort application again.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 id=\"step-th\" class=\"h5--main h5--thick black-text ui-mb-xs-3 ui-mt-md-1\">Method 3. Launch the application with a different rendering method<\/h3>\r\n<p class=\"primary-medium-text ui-mb-sm-1 ui-mt-xs-3\">One of the problems which often occurs on older video cards, is that an incorrect rendering method is selected automatically. To change the renderer type, you can use the command line parameters when launching the application.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"primary-medium-text ui-mb-sm-1 ui-mt-xs-3\">On Windows:<\/p>\r\n<ul class=\"ui-list ui-list--medium ui-mb-sm-1 ui-mt-xs-3\">\r\n    <li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--disc\">Right-click on the TrueConf shortcut.<\/li>\r\n<a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/image5.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-2ExJySoB\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/image5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"401\" height=\"612\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-41011\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/image5.png 401w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/image5-308x470.png 308w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 401px) 100vw, 401px\" \/><\/a>\r\n    <li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--disc\">Open the <b>Shortcut<\/b> tab and replace the contents in the <b>Target<\/b> field consecutively with one of the following lines until the application starts successfully, Apply changes each time when the field content is replaced:<\/li>\r\n    <ul class=\"ui-list ui-list--medium ui-mb-sm-1 ui-mt-xs-3\">\r\n        <li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--disc\"><code>\"C:\\Program Files\\TrueConf\\Client\\TrueConf.exe\" -r \"opengl\"<\/code><\/li>\r\n        <li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--disc\"><code>\"C:\\Program Files\\TrueConf\\Client\\TrueConf.exe\" -r \"angle\"<\/code><\/li>\r\n        <li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--disc\"><code>\"C:\\Program Files\\TrueConf\\Client\\TrueConf.exe\" -r \"soft\"<\/code><\/li>\r\n        <li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--disc\"><code>\"C:\\Program Files\\TrueConf\\Client\\TrueConf.exe\" --offhwenc<\/code><\/li>\r\n    <\/ul>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n<p class=\"primary-medium-text ui-mb-sm-1 ui-mt-xs-3\">For Linux:<\/p>\r\n<ul class=\"ui-list ui-list--medium ui-mb-sm-1 ui-mt-xs-3\">\r\n    <li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--disc\">Open your terminal (command line) and run the commands one by one until the app starts up successfully:<\/li>\r\n    <ul class=\"ui-list ui-list--medium ui-mb-sm-1 ui-mt-xs-3\">\r\n        <li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--disc\"><code>\/opt\/trueconf\/bin\/TrueConf -r \"opengl\"<\/code><\/li>\r\n        <li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--disc\"><code>\/opt\/trueconf\/bin\/TrueConf -r \"angle\"<\/code><\/li>\r\n        <li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--disc\"><code>\/opt\/trueconf\/bin\/TrueConf -r -r \"soft\"<\/code><\/li>\r\n        <li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--disc\"><code>\/opt\/trueconf\/bin\/TrueConf --offhwenc<\/code><\/li>\r\n    <\/ul>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p class=\"primary-medium-text ui-mb-sm-1 ui-mt-xs-3\">If the application still does not open, you can try other rendering settings described in this <a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/knowledge-base\/launch-trueconf-client-applications-via-command-line-parameters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">article<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<h3 id=\"step-f\" class=\"h5--main h5--thick black-text ui-mb-xs-3 ui-mt-md-1\">Method 4.
