This article will show why these devices may be unavailable.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Camera and microphone test<\/h2>\n<p>Check the camera status in the client application by going to the <strong>Video<\/strong> section of the application settings and see how your self-view looks like:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/cam_set.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-7aVTYRZi\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/cam_set.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1008\" height=\"762\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32986\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/cam_set.png 1008w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/cam_set-622x470.png 622w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/cam_set-768x581.png 768w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/cam_set-267x202.png 267w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1008px) 100vw, 1008px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If there is no video, turn on the camera by clicking the button <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-58237\" src=\"https:\/\/trueconf.ru\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/cam_off.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"36\" height=\"36\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\">. If there is still no video, try selecting the camera in the drop-down list. In case of any camera issues there will be an error message in the video area which will tell why the camera may be unavailable. <\/p>\n<p>In case you have any issues with the microphone, make sure that the correct audio capture device is selected in the <strong>Audio<\/strong> section. Select the required microphone in the drop-down list <strong>Recording device<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<div class=\"marked_note marked_note--warning\">If you are using an external microphone with built-in noise and echo cancellation, disable the <strong>Echo cancellation<\/strong> and <strong>Noise suppression<\/strong> checkboxes.<\/div>\n<h2>No access to camera and microphone<\/h2>\n<p>To understand why there is no video from the camera or sound from the microphone, make sure that the client application is allowed to use these devices. Access to the camera and microphone is configured in the OS settings. A detailed guide is provided in <a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/knowledge-base\/how-to-allow-access-to-camera-and-microphone-on-different-operating-systems-windows-10-11-and-macos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this article<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Used by another application<\/h2>\n<p>The camera video can be captured only by one program at a time (e.g., a browser or TrueConf application). So, the camera may often be unavailable because it is used by another application. Close all other applications that may be using the camera, for example, camera apps, browsers, and video conferencing solutions. On <b>Windows<\/b> 10\/11, you can view the list of applications that are using the camera, go to <strong>Settings<\/strong> \u2192 <strong>Privacy<\/strong> \u2192 <strong>Camera<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/param_win.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-7aVTYRZi\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/param_win.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"737\" height=\"416\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32988\" style=\"border: 1px solid #D1CCCC; \/ loading=\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/param_win.png 737w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/param_win-690x389.png 690w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/param_win-358x202.png 358w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 737px) 100vw, 737px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Unlike the camera, the microphone can be used by several applications.<\/p>\n<h2>Blocked by antivirus<\/h2>\n<p>It is possible that the antivirus installed on the PC does not allow the TrueConf application to use the camera or microphone. Disable the antivirus and try to connect to the camera in the client application again. If the problem is resolved, add TrueConf to the list of trusted applications in your antivirus.<\/p>\n<h2>Checking connection of peripheral devices<\/h2>\n<p>If you are using an external device, make sure that it is connected properly. Try disconnecting and reconnecting the peripherals. If the camera or microphone is connected via a USB hub, connect them directly to the PC. We recommend restarting the TrueConf application after reconnecting the camera or microphone to the PC.<\/p>\n<div class=\"marked_note marked_note--warning\">Some webcams have an external privacy shutter. Check if the shutter is open. Additionally, some microphones and headsets have a physical mute button, you need to deactivate it.<\/div>\n<h2>Missing drivers<\/h2>\n<p>Make sure that the necessary drivers are installed and your operating system detects the camera and microphone. For example, if you are using <b>Windows<\/b>, go to <strong>Control Panel<\/strong> \u2192 <strong>Device Manager<\/strong> to check if the devices are detected correctly.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/device_manager.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-7aVTYRZi\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/device_manager.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"342\" height=\"308\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-32987\" style=\"border: 1px solid #D1CCCC;\/ loading=\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/device_manager.png 342w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/device_manager-224x202.png 224w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 342px) 100vw, 342px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If your device is not included in the <strong>Cameras<\/strong> and <strong>Audio inputs and outputs<\/strong> tab, install the drivers from the manufacturer&#8217;s official website. If the camera is included in the list of devices but does not work, update the drivers using the OS tools or contact your administrator.
