This problem may sometimes occur when using TrueConf client applications.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Checking if access is provided<\/h2>\n<h3>Camera<\/h3>\n<p>Before joining a conference, go to the <strong>Contacts<\/strong> tab and check the video from your camera in the preview.<\/p>\n<p>In case there is no video feed, try clicking on the button for enabling the camera <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/2-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"37\" height=\"37\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-30901\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\">.<\/p>\n<p>If there is no result, right-click on the camera or on the icon <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"20\" height=\"20\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-30902\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\"> to make sure that the correct device is selected.<\/p>\n<p>Providing that the problem cannot be fixed in this way, it may occur because your TrueConf client application does not have access to the camera. In this case, the required camera will be unavailable in the menu. You will also see the following notification (Caption 2).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/1.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-B1uINTNf\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"833\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-30903\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/1.png 1600w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/1-690x359.png 690w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/1-1024x533.png 1024w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/1-768x400.png 768w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/1-1536x800.png 1536w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/1-388x202.png 388w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Microphone<\/h3>\n<p>To check if the microphone is available, follow the same steps and use the context menu on the microphone button or by clicking the icon <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"20\" height=\"20\" class=\"size-full wp-image-30902\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\">.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the list of available microphones, you will see the volume indicator and the slider for manually configuring automatic gain control (it will be available if the Automatic control box is disabled). The selected microphone will be ticked <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/4-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"30\" height=\"30\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-30904\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\">.<\/p>\n<p>Make sure that the required microphone is selected. Then, carry out the audio test and check if audio is captured.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/5.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-B1uINTNf\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"388\" height=\"370\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-30905\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/5.png 388w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/5-212x202.png 212w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 388px) 100vw, 388px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If the indicator does not react to audio level and the change of microphone does not help in any way, the problem can be explained by the fact that the application does not have access to the device. Besides, the required microphone will not be displayed in the list of available devices.<\/p>\n<h2>How to allow TrueConf client application access to peripheral devices<\/h2>\n<div class=\"marked_note marked_note--warning\">\nPlease note that the instructions we recommend require administrator rights. If you do not have these rights,you will need to contact your administrator and show him\/her the guide described below.\n<\/div>\n<p>The exact steps may differ depending on your OS.<\/p>\n<h3>Windows 10<\/h3>\n<p>Right-click on the Start button and select the Parameters button in the context menu. Go to <b>Start<\/b> &#8211;> <b>Confidentiality<\/b> &#8211;> <b>Camera\/Microphone<\/b> (select the last option depending on the device you want to configure). After that, make sure the switch <b>Allow desktop apps to access your camera\/microphone<\/b> is turned on.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/123.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"470\" height=\"211\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-31369\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/123.png 470w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/123-450x202.png 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 470px) 100vw, 470px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you are using Windows Pro, there may be OS-level group policies that do not permit users to change the settings in the Privacy menu.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/6.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-B1uINTNf\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/6.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"545\" height=\"29\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-30906\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/6.png 545w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/6-453x24.png 453w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 545px) 100vw, 545px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The following guide will require access to group policies which means that it can apply only to those Windows versions that are different from Home (in this version, one cannot access the <code>gpedit.msc<\/code> tool tool).<\/p>\n<p>In this case, you will need to check the existing group policies:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Press the shortcut <code>Win + R<\/code> to open the <b>Execute<\/b> menu.<\/li>\n<li>Type the command <code>gpedit.msc<\/code> in the command line and click <b>OK<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>The Local Group Editor window will pop-up. To do it, press <code>Win+R<\/code>, and type <code>cmd<\/code> to open the terminal.<\/li>\n<li>Then, you will need to type the following command in the terminal and wait until it is executed:\n<pre class=\"lang:default decode:true \" >gpupdate \/force<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Restart the computer and check if you are allowed to change settings.<\/li>\n<li>Go back to your TrueConf client application and check if the access to camera and microphone is available. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Windows 11<\/h3>\n<p>If the program is run for the first time, you will see the following notification on your PC.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/9.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-B1uINTNf\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/9.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"347\" height=\"110\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-30909\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The specific steps may differ on Windows 11. Right-click on the <b>Start<\/b> menu and select the <b>Settings<\/b> option. In the opened window, go to <b>Privacy and Security<\/b> \u2192 <b>Camera\/ Microphone<\/b> (select the required option depending on which device should be configured). In the pop-up window, activate the slider <b>Camera\/microphone<\/b> access. It is also necessary to activate the slider <b>Allow desktop apps access your microphone\/camera<\/b> (this step is necessary so that you do not have to grant access each time when the application is launched).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/10.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-B1uINTNf\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/10.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"464\" height=\"337\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-30910\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/10.png 464w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/10-278x202.png 278w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 464px) 100vw, 464px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now you can select the required device in the client application and use audio and video conferencing.<\/p>\n<p>The group policy editor should be used in the same way as in the case of Windows 10.
