If you do not have the video conferencing server yet, download it from our website.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/products\/server\/video-conferencing-server.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" role=\"link\" class=\"default-button default-button--md default-button--orange default-button--rounded default-button--truncate default-button__download-icon default-button--left-icon white-icon ui-mb-xs-3\"><span class=\"default-button__text white-text\">Download TrueConf Server<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"primary-medium-text ui-mb-sm-1\">It can be administered from any computer both inside and outside your local network.<\/p>\n<p>TrueConf Server administrator should take the following steps to start managing TrueConf Server from any PC.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"step1\" class=\"h4--main h4--thick black-text ui-mb-xs-3 ui-mt-md-1\">Step 1. Allow the TrueConf Server Connection through a Firewall<\/h2>\n<p class=\"primary-medium-text ui-mb-sm-1\">Windows Firewall rules are applied during the TrueConf Server installation, so you need to configure them only if you use a different firewall. In this case, you need to enable incoming connections on the following ports:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ui-list ui-list--medium\" style=\"margin-bottom: 18px;\">\n<li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--disc\">the port used by the TrueConf Server control panel (<code>80<\/code>, <code>8080<\/code>, <code>8888<\/code> or the port you indicated during the installation process)<\/li>\n<li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--disc\">the port used by <a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/knowledge-base\/adjust-https-trueconf-server.html#How_to_set_up_HTTPS_connection\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HTTPS connection<\/a> (<code>443<\/code> by default)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"accent-note accent-note--line accent-note--special ui-mb-sm-1 ui-mt-xs-3\">\n<p class=\"primary-medium-text\">\n<p>To be able to control TrueConf Server out of your local network, you need to have a static external IP address or FQDN of your TrueConf Server instance visible from outside the network. If TrueConf Server connects to the Internet via a router, NAT, or other network device, you will need to configure <a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/knowledge-base\/connect-external-users.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IP addressing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"step2\" class=\"h4--main h4--thick black-text ui-mb-xs-3 ui-mt-md-1\">Step 2. Specify a range of allowed IPs<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--num\">Open TrueConf Server Control Panel and select the tab <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.trueconf.com\/server\/en\/admin\/web-config#web-security\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Web \u2192 Security<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n<li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--num\">Check the box <strong>Limit access to admin area by IP<\/strong>. After that you\u2019ll be able to edit the subnets\u00a0field.<\/li>\n<li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--num\">If the full IP address of the PC from which you will be managing the server is listed in the default addresses ranges, no changes are necessary. If the IP address is not listed in these ranges, click on the <strong>Add<\/strong> button and specify the address of the required subnetwork and its mask.<\/li>\n<li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--num\">Click <strong>Apply<\/strong> to save changes:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/web-security-en.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-g1cnOJZb\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/web-security-en-690x390.png\" style=\"border: 1px solid #D1CCCC;\" width=\"690\" height=\"390\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-23854\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/web-security-en-690x390.png 690w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/web-security-en-768x434.png 768w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/web-security-en-357x202.png 357w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/web-security-en.png 782w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px\" \/><\/a>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--num\">To enable remote control sessions from any internal or external address (after signing in), uncheck the box <strong>Limit access to admin area by IP<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"accent-note accent-note--line accent-note--special ui-mb-sm-1 ui-mt-xs-3\">\n<p class=\"primary-medium-text\">\n<p>When access is restricted, the <strong>Administrator login<\/strong> button will not be displayed on the guest page if this page is opened from the IP address which is not included in the configured ranges.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"step3\" class=\"h4--main h4--thick black-text ui-mb-xs-3 ui-mt-md-1\">Step 3. Give administrator rights<\/h2>\n<p class=\"primary-medium-text ui-mb-sm-1\">It is possible to give different access rights to the TrueConf Server control panel:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ui-list ui-list--medium\" style=\"margin-bottom: 18px;\">\n<li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--disc\"><b>TrueConf Server Admin<\/b> \u2013 full access to the video conferencing server and its settings<\/li>\n<li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--disc\"><b>TrueConf Server Security Admin<\/b> \u2013 allowed only to <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.trueconf.com\/server\/en\/admin\/security-admin#security-admin-capabilities\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">view reports and conference recordings<\/a> on TrueConf Server but unable to change settings in the control panel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"primary-medium-text ui-mb-sm-1\">Please make sure that there is an account for the administrator on the OS where the server is deployed. Next, add this account to one of the following groups, depending on the required access level:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ui-list ui-list--medium\" style=\"margin-bottom: 18px;\">\n<li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--disc\"><b>TrueConf Server Admin<\/b> on Windows (<b>tcadmins<\/b> on Linux distros) for server administration<\/li>\n<li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--disc\"><b>TrueConf Server Security Admin<\/b> on Windows (<b>tcsecadmins<\/b> on Linux distros) for viewing logs and conference recordings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"primary-medium-text ui-mb-sm-1\">Check out the guides below to learn how an account can be added; in this case the TrueConf Server Security Admin group will be used as an example:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ui-list ui-list--medium\" style=\"margin-bottom: 18px;\">\n<li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--disc\">For <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.trueconf.com\/server\/en\/admin\/security-admin#add-security-admin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Windows<\/a> (via the <b>Local Users and Groups<\/b> utility)<\/li>\n<li class=\"ui-list__item ui-list__item--disc\">For <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.trueconf.com\/server\/en\/admin\/security-admin#add-security-admin-linux\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Linux distros<\/a> (with terminal commands).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"how_to_connect\" class=\"h4--main h4--thick black-text ui-mb-xs-3 ui-mt-md-1\">How to connect to a remote TrueConf Server instance?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"primary-medium-text ui-mb-sm-1\">In order to control TrueConf Server remotely, administrators should open their browser and enter the IP address or domain name of their TrueConf Server instance in the address bar to open their guest page.
