{"id":15867,"date":"2024-09-05T15:00:55","date_gmt":"2024-09-05T12:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/?p=15867"},"modified":"2024-09-20T17:09:36","modified_gmt":"2024-09-20T14:09:36","slug":"how-to-change-or-set-the-meeting-video-layout","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/knowledge-base\/how-to-change-or-set-the-meeting-video-layout","title":{"rendered":"How to change or set the meeting video layout"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During TrueConf video meetings, you can set video <a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wiki\/video-layout\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">layouts<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>common layout for all participants<\/li>\n<li>individual layout for a specific participant<\/li>\n<li>individual layout for WebRTC users (for browser-based meetings) and H323\/SIP devices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In addition, client app users can <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.trueconf.com\/client\/en\/during-conference#%D1%81ustomize-layouts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">customize their video layout<\/a> to suit their preferences.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You can set a video layout when <a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/knowledge-base\/schedule-video-conference-server-side-trueconf-server.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">scheduling a meeting<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>as an administrator in the TrueConf Server <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.trueconf.com\/server\/en\/admin\/web-config\/#layout-tab\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">control panel<\/a><\/li>\n<li>as a user in TrueConf client app <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.trueconf.com\/client\/en\/conference#layout-tab\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">scheduler<\/a> or in the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.trueconf.com\/server\/en\/user\/personal-area#layout-tab\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">personal area<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">When creating a conference<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Layout settings look the same in the TrueConf Server control panel and in the scheduler of a client application. To configure the layout, go to the <\/span><b>Layout<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> tab<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/layot.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-079i6NTp\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-31135\" style=\"border: 1px solid #D1CCCC;\" src=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/layot-659x470.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"659\" height=\"470\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/layot-659x470.png 659w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/layot-1024x731.png 1024w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/layot-768x548.png 768w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/layot-283x202.png 283w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/layot.png 1176w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 659px) 100vw, 659px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Select for whom the layout will apply (all participants, individual participants, WebRTC users, and H.323\/SIP).<\/li>\n<li>Apply required setting of shuffling (rotating) participants in the layout (order, type, and alternation period).<\/li>\n<li>Then, select the required type of layout. In some of these layouts, there are restrictions on the number of video windows. For example, if you choose the layout \u201cSpotlighted window in the center\u201d, there will be at least 9 windows with the step property set to 4 (13, 17, 21, etc.). For other types of layouts, you can select 2 or more windows. It is also possible to choose where the user\u2019s name should be placed (above, below, or do not display at all).<\/li>\n<li>If necessary, you can lock the layout for participants (they will not be able to change it in their applications).<\/li>\n<li>The buttons for automatically filling the layout in a single click and clearing the layout so that it could be filled once again.<\/li>\n<li>Layout appearance. Click on any video window to change its type; for example, if you want to use this window for displaying a speaker or content.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>For more information on how a layout works in TrueConf Server. check the <a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/docs\/server\/en\/user\/layouts\/#how-video-layouts-work-in-trueconf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">corresponding section in the user guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">During the meeting<\/h2>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">In TrueConf client application<\/h3>\n<p>In the conference window, click the button <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-31308\" src=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/3dot.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"41\" height=\"35\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\"> \u2192 <strong>Real-time meeting management<\/strong> \u2192 <strong>Select a layout for<\/strong> (all participants, SIP\/H.323 devices and WebRTC participants, or an individual participant).<\/p>\n<p>The real-time meeting management tool will be opened in a pop-up window. This tool makes it possible to configure settings for video windows; these settings are similar to the ones discussed previously, available when a conference is created. You can set a new layout or edit the current layout. It will also be possible to select the type of each video window. Read the <a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/docs\/client\/en\/layouts-management\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">client application documentation<\/a> to learn more about the real-time meeting management tool.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/layout-managment-en-1.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-079i6NTp\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-31310\" src=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/layout-managment-en-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"574\" height=\"541\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/layout-managment-en-1.png 802w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/layout-managment-en-1-499x470.png 499w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/layout-managment-en-1-768x723.png 768w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/layout-managment-en-1-215x202.png 215w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 574px) 100vw, 574px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"marked_note marked_note--danger\">During the meeting, only the meeting <a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/docs\/client\/en\/installation\/#conference-user-roles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">owner, moderator and operator<\/a> can change video layout for all participants or set individual layouts for separate participants, H.323\/SIP devices and WebRTC users.<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By default, conference attendees are unable to modify the video layout fixed by the conference owner. Thanks to this feature, the conference owner has centralized control over the video layout during large-scale online meetings or corporate conferences. If you want to enable conference participants to change their layout in their client apps, select &#8220;Enable users to change layout&#8221; in the advanced tab of the real-time meeting manager.<\/p>\n<p>If necessary, you can cancel changes and start all over again by clicking the button <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-31308\" src=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/3dot.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"41\" height=\"35\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\"> \u2192 <strong>Clear layout<\/strong>. To delete the current layout, click the <strong>Delete layout<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n<p>When you have made necessary changes in the video layout, click the <strong>Save<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">For browser-based meetings<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For example, if you are the meeting owner and you are managing the meeting from the <a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/knowledge-base\/connect-to-webrtc.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WebRTC application<\/a>, you need to open the TrueConf Server <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.trueconf.com\/server\/en\/user\/personal-area\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">personal area<\/a> to change or set the video layout (if it was not assigned during the scheduling process). After that, go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.trueconf.com\/server\/user\/personal-area#using-conference\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">meeting list<\/a> and select the required meeting and click <strong>Conference manager<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/tc-web-en-1.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-079i6NTp\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-31311\" src=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/tc-web-en-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"911\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/tc-web-en-1.png 1920w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/tc-web-en-1-690x327.png 690w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/tc-web-en-1-1024x486.png 1024w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/tc-web-en-1-768x364.png 768w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/tc-web-en-1-1536x729.png 1536w, https:\/\/trueconf.com/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/tc-web-en-1-426x202.png 426w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The real-time meeting manager will open in a separate browser tab. Follow the <a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/docs\/server\/en\/user\/conference-management\/#real-time-meeting-management\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TrueConf Server user guide<\/a> instructions to change the video layout.<\/p>\n<div class=\"marked_note\">During the webinar, all <a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/knowledge-base\/conference-moderators.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">moderators<\/a> participating in a meeting from their browser can also <a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/blog\/knowledge-base\/how-to-change-video-layout-displayed-on-h-323-sip-devices-during-a-video-conference.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">change the video layout<\/a> by simply double-clicking or dragging the video windows. These layout changes will be displayed in the conference recording, for WebRTC users and H.323\/SIP devices.<\/div>\n<h3>How to manage the layout for a video recording saved on the server side<\/h3>\n<p>TrueConf application makes it possible to <a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/docs\/server\/en\/user\/layouts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">control the conference layout<\/a> that will be used for a video recording saved on the server side. For this purpose, one has to <a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.ru\/docs\/client\/en\/installation\/#conference-user-roles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">have the rights<\/a> of the owner, moderator, or operator.<\/p>\n<p>The layout can be changed in the real-time meeting management section which is fully discussed in the <a href=\"https:\/\/trueconf.com\/docs\/client\/en\/layouts-management\/#conference-layout-management\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TrueConf client application guide<\/a>.
